The Unicoi County High School Student Council will hold a virtual election this week for its executive board, including the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian.
Polls will open at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 15, and will close at 5:00 p.m.
In addition to the election, candidates will participate in a live forum on Wednesday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend the forum needs to register on this page.
A page has been created to highlight all offices and candidates running for them, and students can watch campaign speeches for each candidate prior to Friday's vote. Click here to check out that page.
Candidates for President are Ethan McQueen and Trent White. Vice-presidential candidates include Javier Castellon and Daniel Shults.
Shelby Miller is running unopposed for the office of Secretary, while incumbent Ashleigh Edwards and Matthew Sutphin will vie for Treasurer.
There is a three-way race for Historian, featuring incumbent Rachel Altemose, Meagan Buskey, and Savannah Sparks.
Students in (current) grades 8 through 11 are eligible to vote in this election. Outgoing seniors are not eligible. All students might be signed in with their school email in order to have their vote counted. Any votes cast with personal email addresses will be automatically disqualified.
