From the School Counselor
Welcome back to school! We are so excited to start a new school year with you! I am the school counselor at Rock Creek Elementary School.
I will be teaching guidance lessons to each class every week based on the Character Counts words of the month as well as implementing a program called Positive Action. Through fun and exciting activities we will be learning how to be respectful and responsible in our schools, homes, and community. Along with the Character Counts lessons I will be teaching student’s health/wellness, safety, and career exploration closer to the end of the year.
Ask your child to share what they are learning in guidance, this will help reinforce the concepts being taught. I will also be reading accelerated reader books that pertain to our word of the month, for those students who want to take a test on the books for points.
Our theme in guidance is honey bees because they stand for good “bee”havior. Each class will be working hard toward celebrating good “bee”havior with our Dojo Point and Go Noodle Reward system.
As an advocate for our school’s students; I am here to help them grow and succeed not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. Please let me know if you have a concern or a request regarding your child. Again, I appreciate your support and the opportunity to work with your child.
